Connecting rooms have a private internal door between two hotel rooms. This can be especially useful for families who want proximity with some separation.
Adjoining or adjacent rooms
Adjoining often means rooms located next to one another, but the word is not used consistently. Adjacent can mean nearby without being directly beside each other.
Why confirmation matters
Room assignments can change and connecting inventory is limited. If the internal door is essential, contact the hotel after booking and again close to arrival when appropriate.
Backup plans
If connecting rooms cannot be guaranteed, consider a suite, a larger family room or two rooms with a preference request for the same floor.
